According to five element theory, whenever one element is affected, two related elements are
secondarily affected. Six point treatment takes the Korean method one step farther by utilizing not
only the points and meridians of the element that controls the primarily affected element, but also
those of the element controlled by the primarily affected element.
For example, in a case of

Liver (Wood) deficiency:

Þ Tonify the water point of the wood meridian (Liv
plus the water point of the water meridian (K 10);
these points are on the Element that activates Wood. So, they have a reinforcing action.

Þ Sedate the metal point of the wood meridian (Liv 4)
plus the metal point of the metal meridian (L ;
these points are on the Element that dominates Wood. We have to sedate this action.

Þ Furthermore, Sedate the earth point of the wood meridian (Liv 3) plus the earth point of the earth
meridian (Sp 3).
This is to avoid the ‘insulting’ action from the strong Earth towards the weak Wood.

Cases of EXCESS follow the same principle, sedating the primarily affected element, then tonifiing
both the element controlling and the element controlled by the primarily affected element.

Hi Dionisios,
How could you see it's Korean method?
It's all the Chinese method!!!
We have the Five-Shu points, which are used in accordance with the theory of Five-Elements.
In fact, in clinic, this method is often in use in China.

But in China, I think, the treatment is mainly dependent on the differentiation of the individual condition, in general.
As we know, theory is theory.

Bye!

Dear Sergiy,
I think you might add two more points according to the five elements.

In fact, a simple word is mother point in mother meridian, child point in child meridian, and mother point and child point in the same meridian.
So, in total, they are six.

But sometimes we would also think a little about the mother and child point in the coupled meridian as well. For sure not always.

Tutor should have told this all in details, but he was so mean for his experience and his valuable words.

Hi. My name is Wilson and I work with TCM by 10 years. Here in Brazil there are some acupuncture schools wich learn Korean method. I know a few about this method, and in theory it is interesting but in clinic practical it isn't so effective. There is a book about this method of Dr. Eu won Lee, the name in portuguese is Acupuntura Constitucional Universal (Universal Constitutional Acupuncture) .

Thank you very much for your explanations and reference.

In spite of Wilson's opinion about this technique, I think I would like to learn more about it and try for myself. Of course, I would prefer to read about it in either English or Spanish or Russian, but reading Portugese should also be no problem, so I am actually thinking to order the book [i:c2245b7536]Acupuntura Constitucional Universal[/i:c2245b7536] from [i:c2245b7536]Artepaubrasil Livraria Virtual[/i:c2245b7536], which seems to accept main credit cards for payment and ship their books internatiaonally. The book costs B$ 28.00 (about US$ 13.00) + the cost of shipment. The only thing is that they do not have it as an e-book, so it would take up to 22 days (and probably even more ) to deliver the printed book to where I live.

Hey, so complicated!

Basically I agree with Wilson's opinion, it's hard to evaluated the clinical effect of the Five-Shu points, for some of them are seldom used in clinic.

Yes, theory is greatly different from the practice.

But theoty could provide a good foundation for us to think and find something new, right?

Hello dear co student Sergiy
Sorry for the delay to answer your question about Chinese six point technique .. the article that I was writing
Were from a library of a computer program that I have .. but unfortunely is not written the source of reference.
Anyway our tutor was right .. all these are surly Chinese methods and many Korean doctors took Chinese wisdom
Of medicine and made their own product (this is my personal opinion) !!!
Nevertheless I put an article for the four technique of so called Korean method !!
In the sixteenth century, the Korean Buddhist monk Sa-Am felt that treatments could be made
more effective by not only tonifying the mother phase in cases of deficiency, but by additionally
sedating the controlling phase on the same and the related meridian.

To cite the example of Lung-Metal deficiency, not only would L-9 (earth of metal) and Sp 3 (earth of
earth) be tonified, but additionally, L 10 (fire of metal) and H 8 (fire of fire; some sources prefer P 8,
considering heart fire as sacred and not to be used), would be sedated.

Conversely, if the lungs were overactive (excess), L5 (water of metal) plus K 10 (water of water)
would be sedated, while L10 (fire of metal) and H8 or P 8 (fire of fire) would be tonified.

Stated simply, in this example:

For lung, i.e., metal, deficiency:

Þ tonify earth of metal plus earth of earth;

Þ sedate fire of metal plus fire of fire.

For lung-metal excess:

Þ sedate water of metal plus water of water;

Þ tonify fire of metal plus fire of fire.

This method may also be used to treat cold and heat illnesses. Instead of using tonification and
sedating points, use fire and water points on the affected meridians.
There are several methods to implement this technique. Many Korean practitioners use a
spring-loaded "flying needle" technique, rapidly tonifying or sedating points according to direction of
meridian flow. Other practitioners use more traditional tonification and sedating techniques, e.g., in
cases of deficiency, first inserting needles at the tonification points, and removing them before
inserting needles at the sedating points. The reverse would hold in cases of excess.

I hope you find the right technique by what is valid and what is useless
Follow your heart
Best regards
D.V.

Hi Happy Chinese New Year everybody!!!

I think that's what I meant the six or even more points for the Korean's six point technique.

I don't think something new from the Chinese way.

For sure they learnt the knowledge from us, for they had their own written language only from about the time 1400, not that sure, but not really earlier than that time.

Before that time, Koreans wrote everything in Chinese.

All I'm talking about is only the historical truth, I don't mean thing bad to anybody, but just telling the truth.
