Patent Medicines and formulas given

 Dear Tutor,

Of all the formulas we are given, are many of them in patent medicine form, so as to save the mixing and preparation of the actual herbs themselves?

Also I note many practicioners use herb extracts. Are these combined in the same proportions as is given in our formulas?

Tutor told me you asked a question on the formulas!

I should say some of the formulas given here in the course F are made into patent products, some are not!

But the patent ones are much less effective than the decoction by the raw materials.

Nowadays some practitioners would use the extracts, but it's very hard to say how they made!!!

I'm not quite sure about the proportions of the materials in these extracts, for that's the commercial secret of the manufacturers.
