Questions about clean needle technique and sterilisation

Hi, Sergiy,
I think you have a good understanding for the clean needles and sterilisation techniques.

But one thing I don't agree!
If the needles are sterilised the same as surgical instruments, it should be no problem. In fact, in China in hospitals all the acupuncture needles are sterilised in the same way as surgical instruments.

As a matter of fact, some areas of the world, including majority part of China, cannot afford to use the single-use needles, so the repeat-use needles should still be in use.

Personally I cannot decide to delete any parts of the Medboo text.

Needle sterilisation [b:327179a0cf]can[/b:327179a0cf] and [b:327179a0cf]should[/b:327179a0cf] be used always when single use disposable needles are not available. [b:327179a0cf]But boiling needles (or surgical instruments) in water or soaking in alcohol should not be used for this purpose[/b:327179a0cf], and in this Medboo Course C is wrong. It is not only my personal point of view, but also the official position of the World Health Organisation.

For sure boiling the needles is not a good way for sterilization!

But in some areas, where there are no other good methods of sterilization, neither there are single-use needles, boiling is better than not.

I do hope in all over the world there are no such places!!!

Well, but even in such places one can use a pressure cooker (a kind of autoclave) instead of just boiling needles in water. Thanks to the Chinese industry, pressure cookers are not expensive anymore. For instance, a few years ago Cuba imported several millions of those from China and distributed them to their citizens at US $5.50 per piece, payable in monthly installments.
