I personal like to use Fuliu Yongquan more than Taixi, becuase there is an artery and tendons very close to Taixi, patiens alwasy complain very hurt when I insert a needle. Taixi is Yuan point of KI, when I need to reinforce KI, I use Fuliu becuase it is the mother point of KI, to reducing, I use Yongquan which is son point of KI.
Would you please tell me whether I am right?
Thanks

Dear Zhen,
Personally I still prefer Taixi, for it's the Yuan-Primary point of kidney meridian.
Some physicians would use more Fuliu, but I don't.
Yongquan is a good point, but it also hurts.
You know, it's a little different between Chinese and western people. For Chinese, they don't fear the pain in the abdominal area, but they don't like the hurting in the sole of plantar of foot, while the western people don't fear that much of pain in the sole, but they do fear alot for the pain in the abdominal area , they are even nervous when the abdominal area is touched.

Above Five-Shu points, I prefer Yuan-Primary points, they are the locality where the Yuan-Primary Qi is emerges.

Or, the Back-Shu points are also good, so I'd like to do BL 23 for kidney problems.

Do you think there are alot of excessive syndromes of Kidney?

Hi, Zhen,
So don't do Yongquan (KI 1) too often
It's chiefly used for emergency cases, so not really used often in clinic.

That's also the reason why I prefer Taixi (KI 3), the Yuan-Primary point, which is good to reinforce or to regulate the conditions of kidney, for kidney Qi, kidney Yang, kidney Yin, and kidney essence.

For sure to tonify kidney Yang, we won't forget Mingmen (DU 4), with moxibustion.
Do you think so?
