[quote:07a6ce6b66="David King"]In fact, in China there HAVE BEEN indeed sucn clinical trials and it has claimd successful.[/quote:07a6ce6b66]
From what I understand, in the West those clinical trials have not been so successful.
There have been several systematic reviews published on using different forms of acupuncture for this problem, supposingly including all relevant clinical evidence of acceptable quality available at the time, all with negative overall conclusions.

This systematic review and meta-analysis does not support the use of acupuncture for the treatment of cocaine dependence. However, most trials were hampered by large loss to follow up and the strength of the inference is consequently weakened.[/quote:07a6ce6b66]

[quote:07a6ce6b66][b:07a6ce6b66]Authors' conclusions[/b:07a6ce6b66]
There is currently no evidence that auricular acupuncture is effective for the treatment of cocaine dependence. The evidence is not of high quality and is inconclusive. Further randomised trials of auricular acupuncture may be justified.[/quote:07a6ce6b66] |
