Dear Tutor,

When reading about the classification of things accroding to the theory of five elements, Table 2 outlines the Nature aspect of the five elements. Fire is related heat and the summer season. The orientation of fire is south - would this be because the sun's orientation is from the south during the day? If this is the case, in the southern hemisphere the orientation would be from the north?

Therefore, my question would be if hemisphere has an impact on orientation and the five-elements in general?

Thank you.

Dear kwaichang,
I think you are asking a very good question!

Personally I think the difference in the southern hemisphere must have the impact on the orientation and five elements more or less.

So in the southern hemisphere, the north should be fire while the south should be the water.

In any sense, according to the holistic idea, human beings must adapt to the natural environment, so the difference between the northen and southen hemisperes would lead us to have adaptation to the different living condition or surrounding.

I didn't find this type of materials, I only tell my personal opinion.
