HI, Juan,
Let's discuss your questions!
1). Yes, the body fluid is taken from the food and drink by the function of spleen for transportation and transformation of food and drink. This refined substance does also participate in the formation of the pectoral /Zong Qi. So, we could also say it's a component part of the Zong Qi.
2). Partly you are right!
Because of the lung dominates the Qi in the whole body so the spleen Qi also needs the support of the function of lung for dominating Qi. For quite sure, if the body couldn't have a good breath, what the organs could do? How they manage to do their function?
However, the refined substance is sent up by the function of spleen, and then it is spread to the whole body by the dispersion and descending of
lung qi. In that sense, you cannot say the spleen function of transportation and transformation is greatly dependent on and affected by lung qi.
3).Pectoral Qi is called Zong Qi/宗气, and refined substance of water and food is called Shui Gu Jing Wei/水谷精微, and Defensive Qi is called Wei Qi/卫气 in Chinese.
4). What do you mean the bipolar disorder? Do you mean disorder results from the imbalance of Yin and Yang, and very often it's the consequence of no sunshine? If so, I should say Yes! It could be understood as the liver Qi stagnation/depression. Personally I think it'd be translated as term of "[b:0922f61a23]stagnation[/b:0922f61a23]".
When there is no sun shine, the plants won't grow well, so it could be compared to the liver Qi stagnation.
5). It's not understood as the liver Qi excess!!!
It could be considered as the obstruction/stagnation in meridians and the simple blood insufficiency, and for sure the liver is involved as well.
If there are something such as tremer or convulsion, it could be understood as the liver wind.
It could be more complicated! So we have to take everything into consideration, all the symptoms and signs.
It's too early to think of the diagnosis at the moment. You will have a special course to take for studying diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine.
The Medboo students are really eager to learn, but Don't run before you walk well! That's a Chinese proverb.
Ok, hope my opinions are clear and convincing.

[quote:0922f61a23]1- the function of the lung of distributing body fluid to the whole body, is this body fluid the refined substance of water and food and forms part of the pectoral qi?
2- this refined substance of water and food comes from the spleen, i imagine. If not, where does this refined substance come from? If so, then the functions of transporting of the spleen is greatly dependant of and affected by the lung qi.
3- What are the names and writings in Chinese of Pectoral Qi, refined substance of water and food, defensive qi
4- since the liver plays an importat role in the emotions, and he misfunction of the free flow of qi, may bring depression and/or over excitement, is there any relationship between a bipolar disorder and the free flow of qi? and more important, could it be trated as such?
5- In an accupuntre practice, a patient with multiple sclerosis was checked with a dermatron, both liver meridians were very high, he has difficulty contracting and relaxing his knees (among other things) could an excess of liver qi deplete liver blood thus the tendons not being nourished? If so, how could you nourish liver blood? [/quote:0922f61a23] |
