Title: Clean needle practice

I would appreciate your answer on [i:59c80039a1]how the first two methods of needle insertion described in the text of Course C agree with the clean needle practice[/i:59c80039a1], which nowadays has become a universal prerequisite for practicing acupuncture. According to the text, the first method suggests keeping the needle tip against the acupuncturist's nail, while the second method suggest holding the needle tip with the thumb and the index finger of the acupuncturist's left hand. Meanwhile, one of the basic principles of the clean needle practice is that the needles should be manipulated in such a way that the practitioner's fingers [u:59c80039a1]do not touch the shaft or the tip[/u:59c80039a1], so the methods described in the text seem not to follow the clean needle practice .

By the way, is needle insertion using disposable plastic introducers (insertion tubes) used in China? The insertion tubes are said to reduce, among others, the risk of the acupuncture needle grazing the acupuncturist's fingers (Walsh B.B. Control of Infection in Acupuncture. [i:59c80039a1]Acupuncture in Medicine[/i:59c80039a1] 2001;19(2):109-111). In addition, this type of needle insertion is quite easy to perform, even with long needles, and is almost completely painless.
