Effective Points Therapy of Acupuncture

Dear David King and tutor,

I am sure you know about the Effective Points Therapy of Acupuncture developed by Professor Guo Xiaozong (awarded a Certificate of Honor by the State Council). His student, Dr. Qunhui Mao (you probably know her, as she used to worked as associate professor in China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, although now she has a practice in Copenhagen) has published a book called Effective Points Therapy of Acupuncture (Foreign Languages Press, Beijing, 1998). Unfortunately, there is little information on this therapy on-line in English, except for excerpts from the book of Dr. Qunhui Mao presented on her web-site (http://www.akupunkturkurser.dk/akupunkturartikler.html#Fra bogen Effective Points Therapy).

I would appreciate it if you could advise me whether in your opinion this approach is effective and whether it is easy to learn, as well as whether the book of Dr. Qunhui Mao is worth purchasing.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Dear David King,

Since you are back, could you please answer my question about the Effective Points Therapy of Acupuncture by Professor Guo Xiaozong. Are you familiar with this technique?

Thank you.

In fact Prof. Guo used to be close friend of my wife's family, and he was indeed a very experienced physician of acupuncture, having his unique experience and techniques.

The Effective Points therapy is a good way, but not an easy way to learn.

Only from book, you can never learn it well. You have to follow himself for practice, but it's impossible, for he's died several years ago.

I heard Dr. Mao, but don't know her in person. Neither I know anything about her book.

Form the excerpts from Dr Ma's book (see the link above) it looks as if the technique were easy to learn, but it is obviously not so. Thank you for saving me time and money.

It's quite OK.

I onece heard the opinions of some of other disciples of Prof. Guo Xiao Zong that his technique or experience are indeed very effective, but one must follow him for quite a while to see how he's doing it. It doesn't mean he was not willing to teach, rather, it's not so easy to teach, or to learn.
