Five Zang Organs

I´ve always thouht and read in all text books that the Pericardium it´s an independent organ, and therefore, it will be the six organ. in fact it has it´s own meridian and it´s a part along with heart, small and large intestine and San Jiao of fire in 5 elements. P6 it´s an extraordinary point often used for several diseases. Why don´t you consider it as a Zang Organ and only as an Appendix??

Dear mcbfc,
Nice to meet you here online!
You are welcome to study Medboo courses of traditional Chinese medicine.
As to your question for pericardium, not only in Medboo, but rather in TCM, pericardium is not taken as a Zang organ!!!
It is only considered the wall of heart, so protecting the heart, and bear some responsibilities of the heart, e.g. taking the illness instead of the heart.
That's a very traditional understanding for this organ in traditional Chinese medicine.
However, the points in this meridian are still of good use in clinic, for mental, digestive, and febrile diseases, e.g. PC6.

Bye!
Best regards
