English translation of Acupoints

My study partners and I would like to find a source (book or website) where we can find the English translations for the Acupoints in the Medboo TCM literature. I have read and enjoyed some of the explainations provided by Dr. David King, and I (we) would love to read and know more about these names.

My personal experience has taught me that understanding the derivation, along with the meaning (translation) of words, helps me to remember and memorize them more clearly.
Thanks,
Professor Price

Dear Prof. Price,
Theoretically it's true that you have the good translation of the meanings of the acupoints from Chinese into English!
As once I told Sophia that so far there is no standard translation of this part from Chinese into English. It's not an easy job!
So far I don't know any books or websites where this translation is available.
I agree with you for the experience that it's easier to remember the meanings of something than only the numbers.
There used to be a booklet on the translation of the meaning of acupoints, which was translated by someone in relation with WHO, but it has never been officially accepted by Chinese government, so it is no more available.
OK, Professor, this is what I could tell you all about.

Thank you Dr. King,
That will save me a lot of time in the search effort. I have printed out your "Meanings of Meridians and acupoints names" conversation with Sophia posted on Jan 29, 2005, and put it in my Course D study binder for reference.
I am not sure, whether the Chinese government has officially accepted this translation, but the translation of the Chinese names for the acupoints was started by the working group on the standardisation of acupuncture of the World Health Organisation Regional Office for the Western Pacific as early as in 1982, and they published the 2nd edition of the Standard Acupuncture Nomenclature in 1993. The latter includes literal translations and explanations of the names for all acupoints and meridians.

For example, the 1st point of the Lung meridian is explained in the following way:

"LU1 Zhongfu
Zhong: middle; fu: place.
Zhong refers to the middle Jiao. The lung meridian originates from the Middle Jiao. The point is in the place where the Qi of the spleen and stomach in the Middle Jiao is gathered into the lung meridian".

The 7th point of the Gallblader meridian is explained like this:

"GB7 Qubin
Qu: curve; bin: hair on the temple.
This point is at the hairline on the temple above the ear".

etc.
