Dog with Congestive Heart Failure

I have a mini poodle 15 yrs old with Congestive Heart failure. Recently his condition has deteriorated-- heart rate 160 bpm, fluid in his lungs, and labored breathing. The vet is adding lasix to his medication regime which currently includes Benezepril and Spironolactone. I am concerned that the lasix will have a detrimental effect on his Kidneys. He was on Lasix about 3 years ago and he had a difficult time tolerating this drug. Can you recommend a chinese herbal remedy instead that would be worth trying? What do you think of a Hawthorne berry tincture? Are there any acupuncture points that could be used for this condition?
Thank you in advance for your thoughts...
